Before Five in a Row...

We had a lot of fun reading this book each day. By the middle of the week, the kids more or less had the entire thing memorized! :) This week's activities included story summarizing, rhyming practice, acting out the story together, cutting work, beginning writing activities, and character development (we talked about what we do when we are scared) as well as...

{working on concept of over and under}

{making mud (aka chocolate pudding) and eating it}

 (they really enjoyed this activity, and kept laughing while enjoying their snack)

(chocolate pudding and teddy grahams make for a FUN snack!)
 {number and color recognition & counting with bears}

{going on a "B" hunt around our house}
(they found a baby, a bad guy, Batman, Belle, a ball, bananas, blocks, and a book)
{having bear-crawl races}

 {playing a bear hunt board game}

{playing in REAL mud}

{playing with bubbles}

All in all, it was a GREAT week. We spent a lot of time outside, enjoying the summer-like weather a week before Spring even arrives!! :) This story was on the children's minds throughout the days, as they would reference different things from the book randomly. Like when Naomi got frustrated with her brother, she turned around and said, "I have two goggly eyes, and two furry ears!" I laughed, and said, "What are you trying to tell us, sweetie pie?" She answered, "I'm a BEAR!" And she started chasing us around.

I REALLY wanted to take the kiddos to Build-A-Bear at the end of the week, but it's just not going to happen. We weren't too crazy about the cost anyway, so I let that fun idea go. Next week is the first week of Spring, and I have some fun things planned! Can't wait!! :)
