The kids actually let me sleep in. I woke up on my own around 8am, went downstairs, and ate a bowl of cereal while reading a good book. All uninterrupted. Then they woke up, one at a time. They were all in beautiful moods...smiling and joyful. The older two played peacefully together throughout the day...using good manners the entire time. We didn't turn the TV on once. They picked up after themselves, and even wiped their own faces after meals. They said "please" when asking for anything and apologized quickly when they accidentally made a mistake. But they didn't argue or bicker at all...not even once. I think I even heard them tell each other how much they loved one another more than once. We danced and worshiped God together. We sang a lot of songs and did a lot of fun, educational activities. And we read a lot of neat books that we got from our trip to the library. I also got to workout on our long walk through our neighborhood. And the baby was content the entire day as well. She nursed every 3 or 4 hours and took wonderful naps. The older two napped at the same time as the baby in the afternoon, so I was able to take a nice, long shower. I had time to do a few loads of laundry and clean the entire kitchen...even had time to mop the floors! Then I was able to have a home-cooked, all-natural meal ready and on the table by the time my husband walked in the door. We had a peaceful dinner together, as the kids ate everything without complaining. We laughed as we talked about our day. Before heading upstairs for bedtime, we all enjoyed a made-from-scratch apple pie that the kids and I had made earlier that day. We had all three kids in bed by 7:30...and they all went down without a single fight. Then my husband and I got to enjoy some alone time together before we went to bed at a decent hour. It was the perfect ending to the most perfect day.
And then I woke up. And wished I could go back to sleep, as I realized that perfect days like these will only happen in my dreams! :)
